Specifications and properties
Kapton® film heaters utilize etched foil heating elements, typically 0.0005″ or 0.0001″ thick, which are encapsulated between two layers of 0.002″ polyimide film with 0.001″ FEP adhesive. This thin and efficient design enables rapid heat-up and cool-down times, precise temperature control, and reliable operation even in high-vacuum environments.
- Operating Temperature Range:
- Without PSA (Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive): -57°C to 150°C
- With PSA: -40°C to 149°C
- Can be used up to 260°C depending on the heater design
- Watt Density Options: 2.5, 5, or 10 W/in²
- Voltage Options: 115V or 28V
- Attachment Methods: PSA (double-sided tape) or permanent bonding to heat sinks for optimized heat transfer
- Note: Easy to attach due to its good flexibility, but lacks tensile strength due to the use of thin materials.
