Specifications and properties

Kapton® film heaters utilize etched foil heating elements, typically 0.0005″ or 0.0001″ thick, which are encapsulated between two layers of 0.002″ polyimide film with 0.001″ FEP adhesive. This thin and efficient design enables rapid heat-up and cool-down times and precise temperature control.

  • Continuous operating temperature: Up to 160°C
  • Continuous temperature with adhesive backing: Typically 120°C – 150°C
  • Maximum intermittent temperature: 220°C – 260°C
  • Thermal cycling capability: -50°C to +160°C
  • Typical power density: 0.5 – 2.0 W/cm²
  • Supply voltage: Fully customizable
  • Heater thickness: Ultra-thin film construction
  • Mounting method: PSA adhesive or mechanical fixation
  • Surface compatibility: Flat, curved, and irregular surfaces
  • Chemical resistance: Excellent
  • Electrical insulation: Excellent
  • Vacuum compatibility: Evaluated case-by-case based on operating conditions
  • Expected lifetime: Application dependent

Note: Long-term exposure near the maximum intermittent temperature may cause minor degradation of the film binder.
