Kamet has a wide range of the most commonly used thermocouple alloys, with diameters ranging from Ø 0.1 up to Ø 3.26 mm or more in stock. We supply thermocouple wire type E, J, K, N and T, but also type C and D. Furthermore, we can supply noble metals like thermocouple wire type S, R and B. We have many alloys available from stock to ensure fast delivery times and low minimum order quantities.
In general type K, NiCr-Ni has a wide temperature range. It is reliable and economically priced.
Type N, NiCrSil-NiSil shares the same accuracy and temperature range as the type K, NiCr-Ni, but type N is more stable.
Type J, Fe-CuNi mineral insulated cables are well suited for oxidizing environments.
Type E, NiCr-CuNi thermocouple wires are well suited for sub-zero cryogenic use.
Type T, Cu-CuNi is a very stable thermocouple junction for cryogenic applications in particular.
Type S thermocouple wire (Pt10%Rh) is used in applications with extreme temperatures (max 1600⁰C).
Type R, Pt13%Rh-Pt shares a lot of characteristics with type S, but type R has a higher Seebeck coefficient than type S.
Type-B, Pt30%Rh-Pt6%Rh wire is often used at high temperatures. It is more expensive than type S and R wire since it contains more Rhodium.
Type C (Tungsten 5% Rhenium, Tungsten 26% Rhenium wire) & Type D (Tungsten 3% Rhenium, Tungsten 25% Rhenium wire) thermocouple wires are suited for measurements up to 2320 °C range. Type C & D thermocouples are well-suited for vacuum furnaces at extremely high temperatures.
Our German partner Isabellenhütte has been producing thermocouple wires since 1728. We are an official partner of Isabellenhütte for thermocouple wires type K, N, J, E & T.
All our thermocouple wires and rods are calibrated to ensure IEC60584 class 1 or ASTM E230 special limits. Isabellenhütte is one of the suppliers for the thermocouple wires in the Okazaki AerOpak© mineral insulated thermocouple cables.
Concept alloys is our American partner for Type C & D thermocouple wire. The company was founded in 2002 and is widely known for its proprietary testing and calibration methodologies used to routinely calibrate each end of every coil produced. Concept Alloys routinely measures each end of every coil produced by calibration in-house, on-site. Due to its calibration on-site the company is capable of supplying special EMF tolerances for the most critical applications.
