About Type K thermocouple

One of the key advantages of the Type K thermocouple is its durability, which makes it suitable for use in rugged environments, including those with oxidizing atmospheres. It is also cost-effective, making it a popular choice for various industrial and scientific applications. However, it is not suitable for reducing atmospheres, as it can degrade quickly in such conditions. Additionally, the Chromel leg can become brittle after prolonged exposure to high temperatures, and the thermocouple may exhibit calibration drift over time, especially when used at high temperatures.

Common applications of Type K thermocouples include general-purpose temperature measurement, kilns, and furnaces in the ceramics and metallurgy industries, gas turbine exhaust monitoring in aerospace and automotive industries, and low-temperature measurements in cryogenic scientific research.

The type K thermocouple wire of AerOpak is from European origin. More about this thermocouple wire can be found here.
