In which environments can Type T thermocouples be used?
The Type T thermocouple is renowned for its high accuracy and stability, especially in low and cryogenic temperature applications. It is commonly used in the food industry due to its performance in moist environments without oxidizing. Made of Cu-CuNi, it operates effectively in temperatures below 0°C up to a maximum of 350°C (ASTM E230: 370°C), and is suitable for use in oxidizing, reducing, or inert gas atmospheres. However, it requires protection from contamination to prevent embrittlement, making it a reliable yet delicate tool for precise temperature measurements.
Type T thermocouple is also available as bare thermocouple wire.
Why is Type T suitable for cryogenic temperature measurement?
Type T thermocouples offer high accuracy and stability at low and cryogenic temperatures. With a temperature range extending down to -270°C, Type T is particularly suitable for cryogenic temperature measurement.
Kamet also supplies cryogenic coaxial MI cable assemblies for applications including dilution refrigerators, quantum computing systems and cryogenic test setups.
